Common questions, clear answers

Everything about building with Etch component families and pattern sections, laid out in a quick-scan format.

How do component families work?

Families group related UI elements into one system. An Accordion family, for example, includes the root container, items, headers, triggers, and content panels — all sharing behavior and styling.

What is the pattern library?

A collection of pre-built section layouts you can insert into any page. Each pattern is a polished starting point with real structure and responsive defaults.

Can I use patterns across pages?

Absolutely. Patterns are reusable. Insert the same layout on multiple pages and customize each instance independently.

How do I customize a section after inserting it?

Select any element in the editor. The sidebar shows all available controls for text, colors, spacing, and component-specific settings.

Is the content I add preserved during updates?

Yes. Plugin updates bring new patterns and components but never overwrite content you have added or changes you have made to existing sections.
